Richard received a Bachelors Degree in Science from Penn State University, with a minor in Chemical Engineering. He was a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Penn State and received his commission as Ensign at graduation.

After being separated from active duty, Richard worked in chemical sales for two years, and then attended Temple University where he received a Masters in Business Administration with a major in Marketing and a minor in Information Science and Statistics.

Richard's health care administration career began in 1988 as a partner in a medical consulting company. He was on-site administrator in various specialty practices, including clinical neurology, dermatology, and orthopedic surgery. In 1993 he joined a gastroenterology practice. While there he implemented a plan for a Medicare Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center and consulted with several start up endoscopy centers in the areas of design review, billing, fee schedule development and managed care contract negotiations.

In 1997, Richard founded the management consulting firm, Surgery Center Management Services, (SCMS) and in 1998 he founded a full service medical billing company, MED FIRST Billing Services, LLC.

Richard was the first administrator of the Associated Centers for Gastroenterology of NJ, a statewide network of GI practices with Medicare Certified Endoscopy Centers from 1995 to 2000, and was on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers from 2001 to 2004.


Ellen’s healthcare career began in 1981 as a medical assistant and was quickly promoted to Office Manager. In 1986 she pursued a career as an Emergency Medical Technician and work for Health and Hospital Services in New York City for 5 years. She was an EMT and CPR instructor both in New York and New Jersey for ten years.

In 1994 Ellen, was hired as the Business Office Manager of the new Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Center. She was later recruited in 1996 by The University of Pennsylvania Health Care System as the Administrator of three of their primary care facilities in Toms River, NJ.

Three years later, Ellen was offered the opportunity to work for United Surgical Partners International as the Business Office Manager of its newest multi-specialty, four room Ambulatory Surgery Center facility in Shrewsbury, N. J. After two and a half years of record financial growth within the company, Ellen was asked by the company president, to join the staff of their newest ASC in Toms River.
